Can Makeup Kill You? And do we all need to wear makeup, and is it really necessary?
A lot of us will have a love-hate relationship with makeup, but many of us stick with it even when we’re not feeling it. That’s because, as a society, we’re obsessed with makeup!
We’re overwhelmed with bloggers and celebs that make us feel self-conscious with their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter posts, and we feel unbelievably exposed if we try and flaunt our natural look.
The Benefits of Wearing Makeup
It probably goes without saying that one of the greatest advantages of makeup is it makes us feel invincible. When you’re having an off day, you’re tired, or you’ve come out in spots, it can help you prepare for the day ahead.
It’s also great fun, especially if you like experimenting with makeup. With a few choice colors, new techniques, and some inspiration, you can transform yourself in an instant. And that’s ideal if you’re heading on a night out or want to complement your outfit with a particular look.
Applying makeup to our faces can make us feel special, and can make those we’re going out with feel special, too. It allows you to enhance your natural features and create a defined look that’s different to your day-to-day getup. You don’t need to go overboard to achieve this look either, as you can use makeup to bring out the best rather than conceal everything.
The Disadvantages of Wearing Makeup
On the flipside, makeup can leave you feeling out of sorts with your natural look, especially if you wear it every day. This can create an unhealthy habit because the first thing you reach for in the morning is your makeup bag.
Furthermore, if you’ve got a particular routine you like to stick to, this can become time-consuming, as you have to allow up to two hours to perfect your makeup every morning. The costs of having all this makeup can soon add up too, particularly if you try and keep up with the latest products and brands. Which I honestly do not like at all!
Finally, there are also concerns about the chemicals found within makeup products, as cosmetics receive little, if any, regulation in the united states from leading organizations like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration!
Should You Wear Makeup?
I can’t by any means say that makeup is an absolute necessity. It isn’t. You don’t need it to function in your day-to-day life, and you won’t become invisible if you leave the house without it. However, for many, it does offer the perfect confidence-boosting finishing touch to their everyday look.
Just because someone chooses to wear makeup, it doesn’t mean they’re trying to conceal something. Instead, they could be using it to add allure to their unique features, whether this is mascara that accentuates their eyes or blusher that gives definition to their cheekbones.
Wearing makeup is a personal decision, and whether you choose to wear it or not is up to you. However, it’s important to remember that it shouldn’t be something you hide behind, but something you use as an addition to your own unique personality.
